The nonprofit news site is one of the first to try Apple's new app to compile its writing, photos, videos, and more into an ebook. This move was focused entirely on bringing textbooks to the iPad. This time it's education, text books and the creation of ebooks. IBooks Author experts Joe Wood and Burt Lo share why this new software is important and how to introduce it to schools right now. One thing that I came across recently was Apple's iBooks Author app, which allows even non-developers to create multitouch-capable textbooks for the iPad. It looks like Apple plans to totally disrupt yet another industry, but is that a good thing? Apple also offer the iBooks Author publishing tool. Apple has shown its hand and released iBooks and iBooks Author. Not only does iBooks 2 promise cheaper textbooks for everyone, it adds interactivity, search capabilities, and always up-to-date content. Today Apple introduced a new version of their iBooks iOS application alongside a new content creation tool, iBooks Author. It's a free piece of software for Mac that lets you make rich, multimedia-filled eBooks, complete with multi-touch touchscreen controls. Make no mistake, this will be as big as for publishing and educations as the iPod was for music. Apple's new software lets anyone create digitally rich eBooks for iPads. IBooks Author, Apple book creation app for Mac, has gone 2.0 and is now available in the Mac App Store. It includes the ability to make portrait-only books, embed custom fonts, and more.
